Hi, I'm E. I'm a traveling weapons enthusiast and trader. At the moment I'm running, not for any particular reason, towards an inn/tavern. The reason I'm running? MISUNDERSTANDINGS. No one understands me and assume my intentions are ill. Regardless, I have 150 gold pieces. Anyways, so I go into the inn and run up the stairs, and go to open MY door, to MY room.. and it is LOCKED. I try the next door and find it unlocked and realize my mistake. I CLEARLY forgot which room I was in. I went in and closed the door, and rested on the bed for a bit. Moments later I hear horses outside, curious, I take the nearest exit I can find to investigate. None think it is odd that I choose the window, I'm sure.
Outside I see a carriage that seems to belong to royalty, and a squire with a stand setup beside it and papers, four guards surround the carriage. In front of the stand, four people are in line. Curious, I edge closer.
"His majesty is looking for brave adventurers to acquire something for him, those who succeed in this endeavor shall be greatly awarded. More information shall be given to those who accept."
Boring. Why should I help this rich man get something he probably doesn't even need- Now, THAT is a nice blade. As I catch a glimpse of the gear these royal guards are sporting. Being a curious weapon merchant, I edge closer to the guard behind the carriage to the left.
"You better not be doing what I think you are doing." The guard says as he turns around.
"E-excuse me sir, I was just admiring that fine blade you have there. Nothing m-more."
"Oh really?" He says as he draws his blade and puts it to my neck. "Why not have a closer look?"
"B-BEAUTIFUL craftsmanship, m'lord, I'm sure it could slice right through my tiny little insignificant nec-"
"Excuse me sir." One of the men in the line seems to have noticed this guard bullying me. "Is there a problem?"
The guard gives me a cold hard look, then looks at the nice looking man protecting me. "Not really." He then sheathes his sword and turns back around.
I thanked the man who saved me, and go with him back to the line of adventurers. He seems to be friends with a monk-looking person. Neither look exceptionally wealthy, but they don't seem to be desperate beggars either. I decide I like them, and inquire if they are going to accept the quest. They say they are and that they would welcome my company. I have nothing better to do, so we all three sign the contract. 1
A beautiful woman dressed in plate armor steps out of the carriage, and asks the squire something.
"Yes, these three have accepted the quest." He replies.
She eyes us up and doesn't look impressed.
"Why hello there, m'lady. 'Twas a nice day 'til your beauty dwarfed the sun."
The nice looking adventurer who saved me reaches for her hand, she offers it and kisses it.
"Flattery, will get you everywhere." She says as she blushes.
"However, the King dearly misses and artifact in his ancestor's tomb, and you have 12 hours to get it. Any questions?"
"What happens if we don't get the artifact in the time limit?" The good-looking adventurer inquires.
"Anyone who enters a royal tomb without permission, shall be put to death."
"Oh.. "
"We will supply you with horses and anything else you need, what do you require?"
A man walks up with three horses.
"That will be fine." He says.
"Well here are some potions and rope. Good luck"
And we were off.
